Kinsmen Lighted 2K Trail
The Kinsmen Lighted Trail is a gentle loop with gradual uphills and downhills. The simple turns and hills makes for an easy beginner trail or a great cool down after a long day’s ski/snowshoe.
This trail is lit for evening skiing and snowshoeing daily from dusk to 10:00 pm.

Pinder Trail System
The Pinder System loops through pretty pine forests and maple sugar bush, circles Farmer Bob’s quaint homestead and connects skiers of all abilities with the beauty of Hiawatha’s natural landscape. The gentle terrain is ideal for beginner to intermediate skiers, and is groomed for both Classic and Skate skiing.
The core Pinder trail (4km) has only one small hill, making it an ideal learning trail, while some extensions offer more variable terrain. The entire Pinder system offers 12.5km when you include the White Pine Extension, Mockingbird Hill Extension, Farmer Bob Loop and the Sugar Bush Extension.
Fat baking is available on the Farmer Bob's loop of the Pinder System.

Red Pine Trail System
Possibly the most thrilling, challenging and beautiful trail system at Hiawatha Highlands, the Red Pine starts gently with mostly flat terrain through towering red pines, but quickly challenges you with monster hills like the Screamer and the Double Screamer (if you add on the 5km Fish Hatchery Extension). “What goes down must come up”, said the skier... to finish you will climb up through undulating terrain to finish your ski traversing an old-growth pine forest (some trees are over 200 years old).
The main Red Pine Trail is only 5km, but adding the Fish Hatchery Extension and the Coldwater Creek Extension increases your ski to 12.5km. The Red Pine System is groomed for Classic and Skate skiing.

Crystal Creek Trail System
The Crystal Creek System takes you past waterways, up and down the escarpment and through some of the most exciting and fascinating natural terrain available at Hiawatha Highlands. The main Crystal Creek trail is 5km, but you can extend your ski to up to 14km or more by taking on the Hiawatha Extension, Inner Loop Extension, Olympic Extension and/or the Kinsmen Lighted Trail.
This system is groomed for Classic and Skate skiing, and is rated intermediate to advanced.

Mabel Lake Trail System
Connected to the core Crystal Creek System is the backcountry Mabel Lake System including the Mabel Lake Flats (6km) and the optional Mabel Lake Hills (4km). The Flats are easy Classic skiing on this beautiful Northern Ontario lake, while the Hills section offers a more challenging workout through varied lakeside terrain.
Part or the entire 10km Mabel Lake System can be added onto a robust ski of the Crystal Creek System to make for a longer day on the trails. Mabel Lake opens later in the season (mid-to-late January), and while kept groomed, it is the only trail at Hiawatha Highlands that is dog-friendly (please keep your pooch leashed).
Keep an eye out later in the season for our annual Able to Mabel event!
