Group Lessons
Group Cross-country Ski Lessons are a fun way for both recreational and competitive skiers to learn and develop their skills. All coaches are trained by the National Coaching Certification Program and meet annual training requirements for Safe Sport. Coaches must maintain a current Vulnerable Sectors Check.
Group Lessons are offered through the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club (SFNSC), operator of Hiawatha Highlands. To participate in Child and Youth Group Lessons, the Race Program or Adult Lessons, you and/or your family must become SFNSC members.

Child and Youth Group Lessons Program
This season-long, recreational cross-country ski program develops child and youth Nordic ski skills over 10 weeks from December to March. New skiers learn the basics of sliding and gliding on skis in Bunnyrabbits and then progress through the Jackrabbits program where they learn both Classic and Skate technique. SFNSC’s Track Attack is a recreational program for more advanced youth to continue to ski with friends and develop skills. All recreational skiers in Child and Youth Group Lessons are encouraged to join club races and gain experience in the competitive landscape.
A season’s pass to Hiawatha Highlands is included for children participating in Child and Youth Group Lessons who are 12 and under.
Levels:
Bunnyrabbits - 4-6 years
Saturdays or Sundays, 10am-12pm
Jackrabbits (Level 1-4) - 5-10 years
Saturdays 10am-12pm
Track Attack - 10-14 years
Saturdays 10am-12pm
Adult Group Lessons
Included in your Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club membership is the opportunity to join complementary Adult Group Lessons for both Classic and Skate skiing. Lessons are offered at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, and give adult recreational skiers the opportunity to learn new skills, fine-tune technique and have fun with other like-minded individuals over a number of weeks.
