COVID-19

COVID-19 is of concern to everyone. At Hiawatha Highlands, we have decided to take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19: •Hiawatha trails will remain open to our members and general public. Please check the website for grooming updates. •The Hiawatha staff will ensure additional surface cleaning inside the building. •The Backwards Day event for Saturday, March 14th has been cancelled. •The Annual Awards banquet on April 5th has been postponed until further notice. •Hiawatha Highlands will monitor the advice of the Algoma Public Health and will continue to provide updates. Getting outside and being active is always good for you. Practice social distancing and get out on the trails.

8:00 Pinder trial system and 2k Kinsmen groomed. Heading out to groom Crystal. 9:30 Crystal 5k and Hiawatha Ext. groomed. All other trails look fine. Have a good day.

7:45 Good morning, The Kinsmen system has been cleared and groomed. we have a crew in the Pinder system doing clean up< headed in there shortly to groom. 9:15 Pinder system is complete, headed into Red Pine system. Red Pine is completed 10:45. Chrystal system will be next. 1:00 pm chrystal system is completed.

6:am good morning, we will not be able to groom this morning. There is 10 cm (4″) of wet slushy snow on trail base, we will have to wait for the falling snow and colder temperatures for us to groom early tomorrow morning.

1:30 p.m. — The Red Pine system is groomed. Heading out to the Crystal….only the 5 km main Crystal trail will be groomed today. Good morning, lots of snow has fallen!! The Pinder and Kinsmen systems were completed by 10:30 am . The Red Pine will be done next.

4 p.m. update — The Piston Bully is up and running:):):)…..the 2 km Kinsmen Lighted trail has been groomed. Currently he is out on the Pinder grooming the entire system. Thank you so much for your patience. Good morning, our trails are frozen hard with only a slight skiff of snow over the rain that fell yesterday evening. The parts to repair our big groomer are on order. As soon as repairs are done we will be out there and bringing our trails back in shape.
